Freedom at Heart

"Where are we going baby?" He asks.

I don't know the answer, I stopped

asking a long time ago.

I'm mostly roller-coaster, Speed Racer

a girl of the mind. Zip-

Zip, don't stay too long.

Take a break, please don't

ask the driver the heart knows

nothing about travel.

It beats

having to pack up

to make the connection

in treacherous times

better to sit back, count

trains, not watch the clock.

There's always

bound to be

a glitch.

When you finally reach

the golden destination

expectation taints,

makes you tired, you can't

unpack your bags. This is known

as baggage.

"Nowhere, baby." I say.

"We've got nowhere to go."

Whom Gods Destroy: Star Trek Episode 69, Before Everything Changed

Star Trek love at seven years old

my father and me sitting in the dark

the mystery of the universe

still fresh.

Orion Slave girl,

green-skinned and dangerous

my father's eyes on the television screen

me at his feet.

The gold coins doing a shimmy

on her hips. A little girl with a woman in her heart

waiting to be seen, getting up

and doing the only thing that she could do.

Painting her self green

and begging her father to watch her dance.

Combustion

It's tricky but it can be done.

The magnifying glass and the sun

at just the right angle

can start a fire

that eventually burns

out of control.

You spoke

freely. I've noticed

the pain that words cause you.

"Hold me." You said

"Swallow me whole." You Said

I said, "Yes."

I reached for you

and you ran.

Mouth and fingers on fire.
